Taraba to establish Army, Police Barracks in Wukari - Council Boss Reveals

The caretaker chairman of Wukari LG, Dr. Adi Grace has revealed that as part of measures to curtail the menace of the Jukun \ Tiv crisis in the state, Taraba state government is set to establish Military & police barracks respectively in the state.

In an exclusive telephone interview with Rhapsodi Affos Blog RAB reporter, and Olatunde Tonextloaded, Dr. Adi Grace told RAB that the establishment of the military and Police barracks is located at Chonku Village of Wukari LG area of Taraba.

He also added that he is presently on his way to Chonku village of Wukari to inspect the land as it clearing of the plot of land is already in progress and a borehole is set to be drilled to ease the project as the project will commence immediately after the land has been cleared.

Dr. Grace said that the inhabitants of Chonku village have continually been victims of massacre which has resulted in deserting the village to a safer region.

“Chonku town is an historic town and er can't let it be desolate and empty, we need to safeguard the lives and properties of its inhabitants so they can come back and live a normal life devoid of fear”. Dr. AdiGrace said.

He however added that the gestures are part of Gov. Darius Ishaku’s rescue mission to bring long lasting peace to the region, LG and state and large.

When asked by our reporter of the present situation of Wukari LG, he told our reporter that, aside from the COVID19 pandemic, there has been relative peace in Wukari but few times, the TIV militias launch Gorilla attacks in the town.

Recall, the age-long crisis between the Tivs and Jukun has resulte the loss of so many lives and the destruction of properties. Local governments like Wukari, Takum, Ibbi and lately Donga have been affected by the crisis.
