Ondo: Police arrest man for allegedly beating father to death

Men of the Ondo State Police Command have arrested a 38-year-old man, Nsikak Kingsley, for allegedly beating his father, Adone Peter, 65, to death in Oda Community, Akure South Local Government Area of the state.

The State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this, saying the incident occurred last Thursday when the suspect allegedly engaged his father in a violent altercation that escalated into a physical assault.

Jimoh said preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased sustained severe injuries, particularly to the head, during the confrontation. The victim was rushed to a medical facility for treatment but was later confirmed dead by doctors.

The police spokesperson said the case was reported by another son of the deceased and brother to the suspect, Daniel Moses, prompting detectives to commence investigations.

Acting swiftly on the report, police operatives apprehended the suspect and took him into custody for questioning.

Jimoh condemned the alleged act, describing it as unfortunate and contrary to societal values. He reiterated the command’s commitment to ensuring justice, and urged residents to shun violence and embrace peaceful means of resolving disputes.

He also advised members of the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities and criminal acts to security agencies.
