Tragedy As Young Lady Dies in Taraba Swimming Pool

Tragedy struck on Saturday as a twenty-five years old girl, identified as Clara Joseph, was drowned at Suite 11 Hotel Swimming pool in Jalingo, Taraba state capital.

The deceased was a final-year student studying Computer Science at the Taraba State Polytechnic.

It was gathered from an eyewitness who spoke to our reporter who said the lady and her friends were swimming at the paid swimming pool when they noticed she was missing.

“We were at the pool this evening swimming when we noticed that she was struggling in the deep end of the pool. We immediately called the pool manager that someone was drowning but he said he did not know how to swim. We were just there trying frantically to get someone who could help to no avail. She was in the water for over thirty minutes before her lifeless body was eventually dragged out.”

Mr. Jacob Joseph, the elder brother to the deceased has confirmed the sad incident. According to him, he was surprised that a hotel in the league of Suite 11 maintains a swimming pool with a pool manager who could not swim and would watch a young girl die helplessly.

As at the time of filing this report, Mr. Joseph said the body has been taken to the Federal Medical Center Jalingo to be deposited at the Morgue.

According to a friend close to Clara, Miss Joy said she has been with the deceased in the pool at least 2-3 times, adding that the deceased knows how to swim but wondered what happened this time around.

There have been several social media reactions since the news of Clara's demise broke out, several people said it was time for young people to be more careful where they go,  who they go out with, and what time they go out.

Several synthesizers and friends of the deceased have taken to their social media handles to mourn the deceased, describing her as a jovial, easy-going, and friendly person.
